Ithaca Motion Picture Project: Romance, Exploits & Peril Exhibit

8 Exhibits, Identity Design, Signage & Walking Tour Map

Romance, Exploits & Peril celebrated Wharton Studio & Central New York’s leading roles in American silent film history. Project components included the design and installation of 8 exhibits, identity design, signage, and a pocket-sized walking tour map. The flagship exhibit consisted of an 80-ft. long, double-sided silent film history timeline located within the Avenue of Friends in the Tompkins County Public Library (Ithaca, NY). Seven smaller satellite locations throughout Ithaca, NY included Gimme! Coffee, The State Theater, Petrune, The History Center in Tompkins County, The Crescent Building, Cayuga Medical Center, Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC), and Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH).

A&A collaborated with Ithaca Motion Picture Project as well as architect, Todd Zwigard; and writer, Julie Simmons-Lynch to create this multipart exhibition. Romance, Exploits & Peril was also funded in part by the Tompkins County Tourism Program and Park Foundation.
